Job Introduction:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Manager, to lead our Fire team in Ireland.

Role Responsibility:

The main purpose of this role is to manage the Engineering Department in total, as well as liaising with other departments and company Senior Management/Directors, to advise status of department, targets and projections. 


You will also be responsible for the following;

  • Promote G4S Secure Solutions and all its products and services.
  • Attend and participate in Management meetings.
  • Drive strategy for the department.  
  • Recruitment – Identify need and source.
  • HR – Disciplinary, etc.
  • Salary reviews for the engineering team.  
  • Prepare and present individual annual review meetings with all engineers. 
  • Organise and present engineers meetings. 
  • Identify and drive improved efficiencies to assist and improve revenue. 
  • Liaise with 3rd party suppliers to enhance and improve technologies to assist the business. 
  • Monitor team and individual KPI’s and report on same. 
  • Forecasting labour values for Commissioning, PPM, Reactive and Dayworks.
  • Hold weekly scheduler meetings with operational managers and service desk team. 
  • Monthly labour reports with the administration manager. 
  • Leave approval – holiday and sick leave. 
  • Monthly expenses approval.
  • Fleet cost approval and sign off (Tolls, Fuel, etc).
  • Technical queries and assistance – internal and external customers.
  • Assisting the sales team technically as and when required and driving them to deliver jobs, quotes, enquiries as required. 
  • Provide customers (end user or contractor) with quotes for small works. 
  • Schedule and attend site meetings with contractors to ensure they have sufficient knowledge to install systems to the correct standards.
  • Offer advice and assistance to electrical engineers, contractors and consultants to ensure standards are being met.


The Ideal Candidate:

  • Solid experience within the installation, commissioning and servicing of Fire & Security systems, with a focus around the Fire discipline.
  • Qualified electrical / electronics engineer / electrician.
  • Experience of the operational management of an installation and service engineering team in the F&S systems industry.
  • Practical / able to employ initiative.
  • A strong financial acumen.
  • The ability to follow procedures.

  • Excellent reliability.
  • Ability to remain focused and driven under pressure.
  • A dynamic team player.
  • ‘Basic’ knowledge of MS Project and AutoCAD.
  • Proven leadership qualities.
  • The ability to adapt to a widening product portfolio.
  • Willingness to travel nationally
  • Current / valid driving licence.
  • 5 years checkable work history
