Job Introduction:

This position description assumes that the individual has satisfied all basic requirements for employment by G4S Secure Solutions (Canada) Ltd., including, but not limited to: security licence validation and criminal police information check as applicable (CPIC), credit reference(if applicable), background check, minimum age, and minimum education (high school diploma or foreign equivalency, or earned GED).  Additionally, this job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee.  The individual in this position is required to follow any other instructions and perform any other duties requested by this position’s management.

Role Responsibility:

Key Objectives:    

  • Assist the Branch Manager in ensuring profitable operation and expansion of the District
  • Maintaining a portfolio of clients for the branch.
  • Ensures adherence and compliance with all G4S Secure Solutions policies and procedures, all relevant legislation, and any applicable collective agreement(s).

Scope: 

Within the limits of G4S policies, procedures and the approved budget, the Operations Manager has the authority to:

  • Perform all functions relative to the Branch’s operational areas
  • Monitor activities within the Branch
  • Handle special projects as assigned by the Branch Manager.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Reporting Line:  Reports to the Branch Manager. 

Direct Reports: Coaches, mentors and supervises activities of direct staff that includes: 

  • Operational Staff: Scheduler, Mobile Manager 
  • Support Staff: Administrative support, Recruitment, Field Support Staff

Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing a client portfolio including renewals 
  • Sales development and support
  • Ensuring that established training standards are maintained; delivering orientation modules and related testing when necessary
  • Assisting regional HR staff with interview preparation, selection and deployment of guards and field Managers
  • Operations equipment/vehicle purchase and maintenance
  • Preparation and maintenance of Post Orders
  • Patrol/alarm business performance
  • Assists with scheduling and logistics during peak coverage times
  • Reviews financial results and implementing fixes where required
  • Coordinates logistics for all short-term and emergency coverage
  • Preserves all records and documents as required and promotes the continued growth of all G4S assets
  • Ensures the efficient day-to-day operation of the Branch through effective delegation, monitoring and intervention
  • Recommends revisions to plans, policies, procedures, budgets and systems for approval by his or her Regional/Branch Manager, where such revisions would streamline operations in order to maximize profits and control costs
  • Makes recommendations as to the hiring, promotion, or reassignment of personnel to the benefit of the Company, in any area, including other service lines
  • Conducts all Performance Development Reviews for direct reports in a timely and equitable manner
  • Works with Branch Manager and Regional Human Resources Manager to establish and implement succession planning processes and training programs
  • Ensures that all client and staff complaints, problems and requests are speedily and effectively resolved
  • Ensures that all District reports of whatever nature are completed and distributed within specified time frames
  • Represents and promotes G4S interests both internally and externally
  • Ensures G4S international branding standards are met
  • Acts as Branch Manager when required.

Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications:

  • College Diploma required as a minimum
  • Minimum three years work-related experience in a middle-management role, preferably in the Security Industry
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively with employee groups and builds partnerships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to implement performance management with direct reports 
  • Ability to conduct progressive interviews and assign staff duties accordingly
  • Basic understanding and comprehension of financial concepts and terminology
  • Ability to prepare basic sales proposals as required
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate
  • Facilitation/presentation skills
  • Proficient use of office software programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of rotational shifts and site schedules
  • Basic understanding of pay/invoicing software
  • Willingness to attend to serious operations incidents after hours
  • Knowledge of relevant security and employment legislation
  • Client service/consulting skills
  • Strong communication skills

Position Conditions:

  • Traveling will be required to perform work at various client sites or other Branches; approximately 10-50%
