Job Introduction:

This position description assumes that the individual has satisfied all basic requirements for employment by G4S Secure Solutions (Canada) Ltd., including, but not limited to: security licence validation and criminal police information check as applicable (CPIC), credit reference(if applicable), background check, minimum age, and minimum education (high school diploma or foreign equivalency, or earned GED). Role Responsibility:

G4S is Canada's leading provider of security solutions. Our company specializes in hiring and training security professionals to meet all of our client’s needs. Loss Prevention Officers are a vital to any successful retail operation as they help to minimize the harmful effects of retail theft. G4S partners with many retail partners to help reduce theft. We are currently seeking Full Time Loss Prevention Officer with experience in the Canadian retail sector. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Detect and apprehend shoplifters following proper procedure and protocol in accordance with section 494 of the criminal code
  •  In partnership with the retail store staff, identify possible shrinkage concerns
  • Ensure that the facility’s safety and emergency procedures are followed in response to fire alarms and other site emergencies
  •  Follow post orders for each location
  • Undertake site specific training, follow direction and guidance from the Account 
  • Supervisors or the Area Manager

The Ideal Candidate:

Required Qualifications:

  • Provincial Security Guard License
  •  2 years Canadian mall security or loss prevention experience or 1 year Canadian mall security or loss prevention experience with a Police Foundations Diploma
  • Ability to obtain a Private Investigation license within 90 days of hire
  • Recognized and valid First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Capability to travel to different retail locations across the region assigned 
  • Minimum high school graduate or equivalent

 

The Ideal Candidate will possess:

  • A solid working knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, the Trespass to Property Act and National Use of Force Model
  • Police Foundations Education will be deemed an asset to this positions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Meticulous record keeping, report writing and observation skills
  • Exceptional judgement, common sense and decision-making ability
  • Good physical fitness to make active arrests
  • Ability to operate security equipment/systems, camera recording systems, computers and radios
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Willing to take courses as required by G4S and or Clients
