Job Introduction:

Role Responsibility:

Reporting to the Director of Employee and Labour Relations, the HR Manager is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of HR programs and services with a primary focus on YVR, a federally regulated and unionized workplace.  This position supports the senior management team in effective service delivery and in supporting people and culture at 21 airports across British Columbia and the Yukon Territory.

Major Responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Acts as a key leader on matters related to learning and development, health, safety and wellness, attendance management, return-to-work program, performance evaluation and coaching.
  • Provides coaching, guidance and leadership in labour relations including workplace investigations, grievance handling and collective agreement interpretation.
  • Leads the development and implementation of learning and development initiatives and programs
  • Using HR metrics, analyzes and reports on trends; based on information gathered, identifies, develops, and implements policies, programs and initiatives related to the employee life cycle.
  • Collaborates with the management team to assess the short/long-term workforce requirements of the organization and support the business to identify high potential individuals for career development plans.
  • Develops methods to identify learning needs and opportunities that would support Company goals and objectives, including Learning Management System.
  • Develops, coordinates and delivers supervisor and manager training.
  • Maintains a human resources management system (HRIS/HCM) in collaboration with Corporate Head Office.
  • Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Assists in the design, delivery and execution of workplace change management.
  • Acts on behalf of the Director of Employee and Labour Relations during his/her absence.
  • Leads and/or participates in HR projects as required
  • Other duties as required

The Ideal Candidate:

Formal Education, Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or equivalent combination of training and experience required.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive HR/LR experience in a unionized environment is a must.
  • Experience working in in a multi-site, multi-union operation is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills with an ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Proven ability to consult with internal stakeholders and influence decisions and outcomes to meet Company goals and objectives.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement consistent policies and procedures with site-specific processes and solutions.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills with ability to manage competing priorities within deadlines.
  • Experience in supervising and coaching HR/LR support personnel.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google suite, HRIS systems.
  • Must be able to secure and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
  • Ability to work outside office hours as needed.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License and access to own vehicle is an asset.
