Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity and Inclusion

At G4S, we believe that increased diversity is vital to our continued success. The skills and talents needed to lead, develop and grow a global business are found in people from a diverse range of backgrounds.  Our challenge is to attract and retain the best people from the widest possible pool and provide them with an environment in which they can reach their full potential.

Diversity represents all the differences in people, such as: life and work experiences, perspectives, cultures, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, national origin, age or disability. We are committed to offering employment to suitably qualified persons with disabilities and making reasonable adjustments to the work environment to accommodate them.

Inclusion involves creating an environment where employee differences are valued and unique perspectives are encouraged. We believe this leads to achieving superior client service, as well as being socially responsible to our communities.  At G4S we believe in hiring the best, and that often means being open and inclusive to candidates from all walks of life in order to get the best.

Women in Security

Women already play important roles at all levels in security within both the public and private sectors. There is a common perception that the security industry is an “old boys” network which provides little to no opportunity for women to succeed. This perception is unfair – and inaccurate. The industry is filled with a new age of professionals, including a large number of women, who are future industry leaders. However, there is an underlying truth, in that women tend to remain on the sidelines of security. And if this problem is left unaddressed, the industry’s future will be less bright.

At G4S, we believe that we must be willing to do whatever is necessary to make security an attractive and viable career for all. Increased diversity is vital to our continued success. The skills and talents needed to lead, develop and grow a global business are found in people with a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences. Our core values and vision support employee differences and encourage unique perspectives, in order to achieve superior client service and be socially responsible to the communities we live in and protect.

Women in G4S already perform a wide range of duties, from close protection to airport security to mobile patrol. And a growing number of women are heading up teams in more functional roles within the company around the world. Working for G4S brings you into contact with a wide range of people and organizations, and gives you the opportunity to make a real difference. G4S is strongly committed to changing the perceptions of women in security, and supporting and developing those who are already playing integral roles within our business.

We offer a range of employment opportunities in a variety of different settings, suitable for all levels of experience and education. Our corporate culture is built on values of mutual respect and inclusivity, with a deep commitment to respecting the diversity of our employees. At G4S, we actively showcase career paths and opportunities for women, and mentor and assist up-and-coming security professionals. And as part of the world’s largest security company, we provide training and development programs that are unmatched in the industry.

First Nations/Aboriginal Peoples

Aboriginal people are the youngest and fastest growing segment of Canada’s population. Aboriginal communities are thus a critical part of our country’s future, and it is in the best interests of all Canadians to ensure Aboriginal people secure good jobs and prosper. The private security industry offers numerous opportunities for Aboriginal people to succeed in challenging, interesting careers.

G4S believes strongly in equal opportunities, and our commitment to human rights and community engagement leads the security industry. Our core values and vision commits us to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace, and doing business with diverse clients and suppliers. We value employee differences and encourage unique perspectives in order to achieve superior client service and be socially responsible to the communities we live in and protect.

At G4S, we strive to establish lasting relationships with Aboriginal communities built on mutual trust and respect, through consultation, workforce development, business development and community relations. We are engaged in open and honest consultation with Aboriginal people in the communities in which they live and where we provide security services. And we are committed to ensuring that we recruit Aboriginal people wherever possible for jobs in security.

We offer a range of employment opportunities in a variety of different settings, suitable for all levels of experience and education. Our corporate culture is built on values of mutual respect and inclusivity, with a deep commitment to respecting the diversity of our employees. At G4S, your contribution is valued and vital to the success of our company, and as part of the world’s largest security company, we provide training and development programs that are unmatched in the industry.
